Proxmox® Open Source
Server Solutions — Full Stack
Convergent architects, deploys and supports the complete Proxmox ecosystem — Virtual Environment, Backup Server, Mail Gateway and Datacenter Manager — for mission-critical organisations requiring enterprise-grade infrastructure without proprietary lock-in.
Virtual EnvironmentEnterprise hypervisor — KVM · LXC · HA · Ceph · SDN
Proxmox Virtual Environment combines KVM hardware virtualisation and LXC container management in a single open source platform. Its unified web interface manages the full lifecycle of VMs, containers, storage and networking — including high availability clustering, live migration and integrated Ceph — with zero per-VM licensing. Version 9.1 adds bulk operations, IPAM and refined SDN management across large multi-node deployments.
- KVM + LXC unified platform — Full hardware virtualisation for Windows and Linux workloads alongside lightweight LXC containers sharing the host kernel. Both managed from a single RBAC-controlled interface.
- Native HA clustering & live migration — Automatic VM failover with configurable fencing policies. Zero-downtime live migration for VMs and containers with memory and storage transfer across nodes.
- Bulk Start, Stop & Migrate (v9.1) — Apply operations to filtered sets of VMs simultaneously — by node, pool, status or tags. Dramatically reduces maintenance window duration on large clusters.
- Integrated Ceph storage — Deploy converged Ceph from the Proxmox VE interface — no separate storage controllers. RBD block storage, CephFS and object storage on the same compute nodes.
- SDN with VNets, VXLAN & EVPN — Software-defined networking with VLAN zones, VXLAN overlays and EVPN-BGP for full multi-site fabric. Integrates natively with OPNsense for perimeter security.
- VMware / Hyper-V migration path — Import OVA/OVF and VHDX directly. Convergent manages the full migration — inventory, conversion, cohabitation, cutover and rollback documentation.
Convergent deployment scope
From hardware selection to production go-live: BIOS/UEFI hardening, network bonding, storage layout, HA policy design, Ceph sizing, subscription activation, REST API integration and operational runbook documentation. On-site VMware decommissioning and cutover support included.
Backup ServerDeduplicated incremental-forever backup · AES-256 · PRA/PCA
Proxmox Backup Server is a dedicated enterprise backup solution for VMs, LXC containers and physical hosts. Its change-block tracking engine enables truly incremental-forever backups with inline deduplication — dramatically reducing backup windows and storage consumption while guaranteeing restore integrity through scheduled verification jobs and SHA-256 chunk validation.
- Change-block tracking — incremental forever — Only changed disk blocks are transmitted after the first full backup. Combined with inline deduplication, storage is typically reduced by 60–80% vs traditional backup approaches.
- Client-side AES-256 encryption — Data is encrypted on the client before transmission. The backup server never holds plaintext — critical for ISO 27001, GDPR compliance and off-site replication to untrusted storage.
- Scheduled verification & integrity checking — Automated verify jobs confirm every backup is restorable before you need it. SHA-256 checksums validated across all chunks detect silent data corruption at rest.
- Granular file-level restore — Restore individual files from a VM backup without restoring the full disk image. Supports ext4, XFS, NTFS and ZFS — directly from the web UI, no agent required.
- Configurable retention & garbage collection — Per-group retention rules: keep last N, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. GC reclaims expired chunk storage without interrupting active backups.
- Tape backup & S3-compatible remote sync — Native tape library support for long-term archiving. Sync datastores to S3-compatible storage (Wasabi, MinIO, Backblaze) for off-site disaster recovery.
Business continuity architecture
Convergent designs PBS deployments aligned to your RTO/RPO — datastore sizing, retention policy definition, off-site replication topology and formal DR procedure documentation. Annual restoration tests and a written continuity runbook delivered as project outputs.
Mail GatewayOpen source email security — DKIM · Antivirus · Antispam · SPF · DMARC
Proxmox Mail Gateway is an enterprise-grade open source email security gateway deployed in front of your mail server. It intercepts all inbound and outbound SMTP traffic, applying multi-engine antispam and antivirus scanning before any message reaches your infrastructure — while enforcing DKIM signing and DMARC policies on outbound mail to protect your domain's sending reputation.
- Multi-engine spam detection >99% — SpamAssassin with Bayesian learning, greylisting, RBL/DNSBL checks and SPF enforcement. Production deployments consistently exceed 99% spam detection with near-zero false positives.
- Avast for Linux + ClamAV dual-engine antivirus — Avast Business engine alongside ClamAV for dual-layer attachment scanning. Signature updates every few minutes. Detected malware quarantined with full audit trail.
- DKIM signing & DMARC enforcement — Signs all outbound messages with DKIM and validates inbound SPF/DMARC. Directly improves your domain's email authentication posture and deliverability reputation.
- Granular Who/What/When rule engine — Filter policies per sender, recipient, time window, attachment type or content pattern. Supports allow/block/quarantine/tag with customisable notifications and per-user quarantine access.
- Active/active cluster mode — Deploy in active/active cluster with shared configuration synchronisation. Eliminates the mail gateway as a single point of failure for organisations with strict mail availability SLAs.
- Full audit trail & monthly statistics — Every message logged with sender, recipient, spam score, virus result and delivery status. Statistics panel exposes traffic patterns, junk rates and bounce analysis — auditable for compliance.
What the statistics show in production
The PMG 9.0 statistics panel (shown opposite) is from a real production deployment: 729,229 total messages in September 2025 — 37% classified as junk, 11% spam, 51 viruses blocked, 265 SPF rejects — all intercepted before reaching the mail server. Zero virus outbreaks. Outbound DKIM and SPF active on all domains.
Datacenter ManagerCentralised multi-cluster operations — remote nodes · SDN · monitoring
Proxmox Datacenter Manager 1.0 is a new centralised management layer for organisations running multiple Proxmox VE clusters across sites. A single dashboard aggregates all remote clusters, their nodes, resource consumption, task history and SDN zones — providing cross-site operational visibility without requiring direct interface access to each individual cluster.
- Single pane of glass — all clusters — Node count, VM/container inventory, running/stopped status, CPU and memory utilisation, backup datastore status and subscription validity — all in real time from one screen.
- Remote node drill-down with console access — Navigate from global dashboard into any remote cluster and node — viewing CPU history graphs, memory allocation, storage state and VM list with direct console access without leaving PDM.
- Custom views per organisational unit — Named views grouping nodes and guests by project, department or site (DevOps, Production, Project-Alpha). Reduces operator cognitive load in heterogeneous multi-site environments.
- Cross-cluster task summary & failure triage — 48-hour aggregated task summary across all remotes, sorted by failure count per node. Immediately surfaces which clusters need attention — essential for SLA management in managed service environments.
- SDN zone visibility across all sites — Monitor SDN zone status (available/pending/error) across all managed remotes from one view. Simplifies multi-site network governance and cross-cluster troubleshooting.
- Subscription monitoring across all clusters — Tracks subscription validity across all managed VE installations — preventing silent expiry that would cut access to the enterprise security repository and vendor support.
Multi-site managed infrastructure
For organisations running Proxmox VE across multiple sites — branch offices, secondary datacenters or hybrid environments — PDM makes centralised governance viable without a dedicated administrator at each location. Convergent deploys and configures PDM as an integral part of multi-site infrastructure engagements.

Uptime Comes from Operations
Availability is the result of architecture and process. Proxmox's integrated toolset makes maintenance routine and safe — so your team can operate at scale without accumulating risk. La disponibilité est le résultat de l'architecture et du processus. L'outillage intégré de Proxmox rend la maintenance routinière et sûre — votre équipe opère à l'échelle sans accumuler les risques.
Cluster Operations Built-In
Operate the full cluster as a single environment. Consistent operations as capacity grows — without administrative complexity multiplying across nodes.
High Availability for Critical Workloads
Automatic failover with anti-affinity rules that prevent critical workloads from sharing the same node. Shifts outage response toward service continuity — fewer P1 incidents, faster recovery.
Live Migration for Maintenance
Move workloads between nodes without downtime. Patching and hardware work become schedulable — removing pressure from maintenance windows and eliminating the need for service interruptions.
Visibility for Faster Decisions
Metrics, events and status views at node, cluster and datacenter level. Quicker troubleshooting and prioritisation — reduced time-to-resolution and better SLA management across all sites.
Recovery Reduces Outage Impact
Availability also means "recover fast". Proxmox Backup Server improves backup readiness for incidents — complementing HA with verified recovery capability that's tested, not assumed.
Routine, Not Risky
The Proxmox philosophy: maintenance should never be an event. Convergent delivers the architecture, processes and documentation to make this operational model a reality for your organisation.
Why Proxmox for Enterprise Infrastructure?
- No per-VM, per-socket or per-feature licensing — all features (HA, live migration, Ceph, SDN, replication, full REST API) available in the community version. The optional subscription unlocks enterprise repository access and SLA support — not features.
- Full data sovereignty — no vendor dependency — open source codebase auditable by anyone. No telemetry, no cloud callbacks, no licensing server. Fully air-gapped capable. Critical for regulated industries and sovereign data requirements.
- Coherent ecosystem — four integrated products — VE, PBS, PMG and PDM are designed to interoperate. Backup integration is native, mail gateway deployment is documented, datacenter management requires no third-party tooling.
- VMware migration — now business-critical — Broadcom's VMware acquisition triggered significant pricing restructuring. Proxmox provides a proven migration path with OVF/OVA import tooling and a documented cohabitation strategy for phased transitions.
